Donal has expressed an interest in the benefits NCA are bringing to his local area.NCA are promoting cycling activities throughout Bury setting up cycle clubs, addressing health, transport, green issues, and, with support of local police, (who are security marking kids bikes at each school we attend) tackling social issues.
Even though thiese sessions are just part of the bigger picture for us (we are organizing taster sessions for primary/secondary/SEN school kids throughout the North West) it is nice to have local poiticians come out to get a flavour of what we're doing in their local patches.
Our goals line up with what all future-thinking councils are looking at, namely: aiming to improve basic cycling skills working towards encouraging riding to/from school in a safe and competent manner after completing a bikeability training course, providing sustainable cycling activities for whole school community, also providing access to local cycle clubs
We were demonstrating how our 6 sessions arranged within schools, can emcompass any cycle discipline ie a local favourite - cycle speedway, or how to fix a puncture. The final one always a supervised family ride out using local off road routes
All the kids receive a certificate at the end of 6 sessions.
